Join Derek Culver and Andrew Imhoff for a truly otherworldly night photography experience as we tour you into the mysterious and beautiful backcountry of Navajo Nation! We are the only workshop with exclusive access to these private Navajo lands, we work with locals Navajo and Hopi and will have these unbelievable canyons to ourselves to appreciate, enjoy respectfully, and give hands on instruction on how to capture them and the Milky Way above! This workshop is great for all levels of astrophotographers and adventurers looking to for hands on instruction to help capture better images of the night sky and landscapes, and lends itself particularly well to those wanting to take their color work, compositions, and sky shots to the next level. Words and pictures will only do a fraction of justice of sharing the vibrant colors, mysterious twists, and crazy rock formations of Coal Mine Canyon and the other secret canyons in the area! This workshop includes backcountry camping accommodations on private land and slot canyons, meals while camping, 4x4 transportation, hands on photography instruction under the darkest skies in Arizona, small group sizes with plenty of individual instructor attention, and an otherworldly experience like no other enjoying these canyons at night together!

Join us as we guide you to backcountry wildflower meadows and alpine vistas in the Cascade Mountains between Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens! This workshop is ideal for intermediate adventurers and photographers who are interested in learning the advanced camera and editing techniques we use to plan, capture, and edit emotion evoking photos of wildflowers, mountains, and the Milky Way! This workshop requires a decent fitness level as to escape the crowds and locate amazing views, carrying camera gear several miles in a high elevation setting, and separate us from the crowds. This workshop is perfect for those who are looking for epic group adventures into pristine alpine wilderness while learning how to capture the advanced techniques we learn to create out art!

August 10-14 - Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Join us capturing the explosive Perseid Meteor Shower over the Geysers, Pools, and epic features of America’s most iconic national park, Yellowstone! This workshop is perfect for beginner, intermediate, and advanced adventurers and photographers who want to learn the techniques I use to plan, capture, and edit emotion evoking night photos and videos: the Milky Way Galaxy towering over powerful geysers, stars reflecting in the colorful natural hot spring pools, and if we get lucky, some explosive meteors in the night sky and Northern Lights! The Perseid Meteor shower is the most popular meteor showers because of it’s high activity of 120+ meteors an hour, it’s reliability each year to put on a show, and for the warm and clear weather August holds for most of North America.

BRYCE CANYon

August 27th - 31st - Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome State Park, Escalante; Utah

I don’t know who Bryce is, but his canyon is awesome! Join us for 4 nights exploring and capturing the fairy tale spires, expansive canyon views, colorful sandstones, and epic dark skies of Bryce Canyon with a special 4x4 trip out to the otherworldly geologic wonder of the Cosmic Ashtray in Escalante. This workshop is an immersive adventure photography experience with both day time hikes as well as group night time adventures and lessons. We will be camping under the stars with front row seats to the heavens above and easy access to venture into these epic canyons together to capture them! This workshop is followed up by our epic Escalante Astro Adventures workshop for those looking for a life changing experience for 10 days exploring and capturing Escalante, Kanab, and Vermillion Cliffs wilderness!

Join us for 3 nights in White Sands National Park capturing the endless expanses of Gypsum Salt dunes under the dark night skies! October is an excellent time for Night Photography as you can shoot the Milky Way core early after sunset and catch the transition into various constellations and nebulae throughout the long nights. Typically White Sands is closed at night but we will have special access to the park after dark!

Join Bray, Andrew, and Derek for an astrophotography retreat focused on Deep Space astrophotography and advanced night photography techniques and editing! We’ve rented a luxury Airbnb/ Astro Compound in the remote desert East of the Chiricahua Mountains where we will focus on teaching tracking, stacking, and editing for 6 days / 5 nights with a few excursions into the nearby Chiricahua Mountains for hikes and landscape astro opportunities. This workshop is specially made for our Alumni :)

From vibrant hills at Artist’s Palette, to the expansive salt crystals at Badwater Basin, this workshop is geared for beginner to intermediate adventurers and photographers who are looking for hands on lessons from two travel and night photography experts on how to take their images to the next level in one of the most remarkable places in the US, all while making memories and amazing pictures with a group of like-minded outdoor lovers and photographers. We will be camping out under the stars together (hotel alternatives available) and provide camping gear and most meals for you in-between our photo adventures. This workshop provides a fun and relaxed learning environment, an immersive camping and night photography experience, and memorable adventures with a group of like-minded star and adventure lovers in one of the most exceptionally beautiful places in the Southwest- the beauty and dark skies will transport you into another realm!

Join Tom Rae and I on an epic landscape, astronomy, and adventure photography vacation as we tour around the otherworldly islands of New Zealand! Massive limestone caves full of thousands of Bioluminescent Glow Worms, otherworldly rock and mountain vistas where Lord of the Rings was filmed, world class beaches to both capture and recharge your soul, and the Southern Hemisphere catalog of stars; Magellanic Clouds, Eta Carina Nebula, and the “upside down” Milky Way core!

The first half of our trip we will go hard touring the South Island with epic flights to glaciers, epic alpine mountains with the Milky Way, and epic seascapes. The second half of the trip will be on the North Island, full of epic adventures but will include more amazing beaches, relaxing day time tours to soak in the inspiring sceneries, private glow worm photography tours, and editing sessions at an epic private airbnb compound to process our images. Optional Hobbiton tour for Lord of the Rings nerds! Lots of glow worms, deep space photography from the Airbnb.
